Top 3 Fall Cocktails: A Little Fancy But Not Hard to Make
This Fall, make your cocktails count. Treat yourself to something NICE. Get back to basics with old fashioned class or spruce up something easy, like a mimosa. I’ll give you 3 recipes to feel fancy with zero hassle.
There are TONS of great and easy recipes this Fall. Not sure why this particular year seems so full of fancy drinks, but they sound pretty good to me. (I got these recipes from Town & Country, just for the foo-foo factor!)
I picked three of them to test at home:
Apple Cider Mimosas
I’m a big fan of mimosas because they’re a bit fancy but they certainly don’t have to be expensive. In fact, you shouldn’t ever waste your money on high-end bubbly if you’re just going to mix it with juice and stuff. You’ll rarely be able to taste the difference.
- 1 bottle champagne
- 1 cup apple cider
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
On a small plate, combine sugar and cinnamon. Dip champagne flutes in water to wet the rims, then dip in cinnamon sugar mixture. Fill champagne flutes 1/4 full with apple cider, then top off with champagne.
Maple Bourbon Old-Fashioned
You either like bourbon, or you don’t. But perhaps you’ve never tried a proper bourbon? Ease into the spirit with this sweeter take.
- 2 oz bourbon
- 2 tsp maple syrup
- 1 tsp water
- 1 dash bitters
- 1 orange peel
- 1 maraschino cherry
Combine maple syrup, water and bitters in a glass, stirring until well blended. Add a few blocks of ice and the orange peel, then pour bourbon on top. Garnish with a cherry and serve.
Caramel Apple Mule
This was a little much for me….kind of like the pumpkin spice latte of the cocktail world. However, I know a ton of Mule lovers so I figured I’d give it a shot. Quite tasty but I wouldn’t want more than one.
- 1.5 oz Absolut vodka
- .5 oz caramel syrup
- 1 oz apple cider
Shake all ingredients with ice. Strain into a wooden mug over ice, top with ginger beer. Garnish with apple fan. Super easy!
