Trent Reznor has collaborated with Nine Inch Nails partner Atticus Ross to make your Friday the 13th just a bit creepier: Check out their new cover of the already disturbing theme from John Carpenter's Halloween. The eight-minute track adds a bit more doom, gloom and terror, and is sure to wreak havoc — and nostalgia — on your day.

"I clearly remember my friends and I at 13 years old conning our parents into letting us see Halloween when it came out in 1978," Reznor says in a news release. "We left the theater forever changed. We were damaged and scarred, with the s--- genuinely scared out of us and that theme stuck firmly in our heads. John Carpenter, it's your fault that I turned out the way I did."

Of course, that's probably meant as a compliment, considering his prolific work. Reznor and Atticus teamed up to score Ken Burns’ Vietnam War docu-series, and also recently released Nine Inch Nails’ Add Violence EP – the second installment in a planned trilogy.

Their cover of the "Halloween" theme arrives in advance of Carpenter's pending Anthology: Movie Themes 1974-1978, which finds the directing legend re-recording 13 of the most chilling themes from throughout his career. It is set for an Oct. 20 release.

By the way, Carpenter is a fan this new update: "Moody and dark, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross' version of 'Halloween' does amazing justice to the original," Carpenter said. "I'm impressed." He's currently at work on a new Halloween project, as well.
