Authorities have identified the 29-year-old Virginia woman killed in a crash on Interstate 90 as Samantha Josephine Barnaby of Chester, Va.

Police say she died Thursday when the pickup truck she was riding in rear-ended an empty cattle truck in southwestern Montana near Butte.

The Montana Standard reports in a story on Sunday that the 29-year-old man driving the pickup and a 10-year-old girl were hospitalized with serious injuries. Their conditions are unavailable.

The Montana Highway Patrol says the collision occurred when the eastbound cattle truck illegally used the emergency crossover and pulled into the westbound lanes in front of the pickup truck.

The semi driver, a 47-year-old man from Kansas, was treated and released.
