Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks is looking for volunteers for its annual Dome Mountain Clean-Up Day, co-sponsored by the Park County Rod and Gun Club, on Saturday, June 7. Volunteers will be cleaning up old fencing that are dangerous to wildlife on this important elk winter range.

WHERE: Meet at north parking area at Dailey Lake

WHEN: Saturday, June 7 at 9:00 am

Volunteers should contact FWP Area Biologist Karen Loveless prior to June 7. Email kloveless@mt.gov or call 406-333-4211 if interested.

Fencing pliers and t-post pullers would be very helpful, as well as any additional ATV’s. Volunteers who are willing to bring any of the items mentioned on June 7, should let Karen Loveless know. Free food and beverages will be provided to volunteers.

The Dome Mountain Wildlife Management Area is over 4,500 acres of public land, owned by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks. It was purchased in the late 1980’s in order to preserve elk winter range and provide hunting and recreational opportunity for the public. Old fencing remains in some areas since prior to public acquisition, and each year causes injuries or death to elk and other wildlife that become entangled.
