Ween has announced the release of a new archival double-live album, GodWeenSatan Live, scheduled for Nov. 18.

As you can guess from the title, the record finds the band playing their entire 1990 debut album GodWeenSatan live, in this case during a 2001 show in their hometown of New Hope, Pennsylvania.

As recalled in the press release announcing the album, GodWeenSatan Live was recorded at a re-release party for the original record, which was scheduled to take place on Sept. 14, 2001. After the tragic attacks of 9/11, Ween struggled, then ultimately decided not to cancel the show, and "what unfolded was pure catharsis from both the band and the packed crowd."

GodWeenSatan Live is available for pre-order on both CD and double vinyl, and can be purchase with a variety of new merchandise, including a pennant, a slip mat and, most excitingly for hardcore Ween fans, a Boognish belt buckle. While it's not quite as awesome as the ultra-rare promotional version the band created around the release of 1994's Chocolate and Cheese, it's also a whole lot cheaper.

After five years apart, Ween reunited this year, playing festivals and headlining shows seemingly everywhere but (cough!) Ohio. The group has previously released six other live albums, the most recent being At The Cat's Cradle, 1992.

Guitarist Dean Ween will release his first-ever Dean Ween Group album, The Deaner Album, later this week. It's excellent, and you can hear it all right here. Tonight he kicks off a two-week tour (with support from the Meat Puppets) in support of the record, and you can get all the dates and details at the official Dean Ween Group site.
