East Glacier in northern Montana is still in a severe deficit with their snowpack. Not all of Montana is in trouble, but thankfully up to 8" of fresh snow should hit the East Glacier basin area by Friday morning. Currently, their snowpack is about 60% of average.

Central Montana is in great need of more snow, and there's good news: up to 6" of fresh snow is headed for the Little Belt and Highwood Mountains by Saturday morning. Travel on King's Hill Pass and the surrounding area may be affected.

What was supposed to be a rainy day has turned out to be a snowy day in Bozeman and southwest Montana in general. Up to 4" of fresh snow could fall in town, with up to 9" of snow in the southern mountains by Thursday night.

Yellowstone National Park is supposed to get hammered with snow and wind on Thursday. Very gusty winds combined with several inches of snow will make for dangerous conditions in the park and the surrounding areas. High elevations are expecting the most snow.

Areas near Billings and south to Wyoming border will continue to see snow, wind, and poor driving conditions until midnight tonight. Some area will have accumulated 7 fresh inches of snow by Sunday night.

If Montana has been known as 'The Last Best Place', is it possible that we're morphing into 'The Last Pretty OK Place'? Montana still has 150,000 square miles of terrain, but we've now got 1.2 million people across the state - the richest of which are outbidding each other on the best chunks.

It's been one of the most challenging winters in Montana for avalanche conditions. Weak early snowpack in several parts of Montana started off the season with a terrible base. Warm conditions, then large snow dumps haven't made for a stable back country experience for most of the season.

More snow this afternoon into this evening for the Beartooth Foothills and the area surrounding Red Lodge. Another 6 inches of fresh snow could fall by midnight.

10 more inches of snow could land in southwest Montana mountains by Wednesday evening. Madison and Gallatin counties are the target of this next round of snowy weather.

Yet another round of big snow has fallen on southwest Montana, hitting the southern mountains especially hard with another foot of snow. An Avalanche Warning has been issued again by the Gallatin National Forest Avalanche Center, as the danger of triggering a deadly avalanche is high.
