Local Montana Woman Asks, “What’s The Big Deal About Bozeman?”
Bozeman has been discovered as you can see if you drive through town or look at renting/owning a home. People have always traveled to Montana to ski, hike, take in the views of Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park and just really enjoy the great outdoors.
I was talking to a local woman the other day, and by local I mean she has lived here since she were 3 and she's now 63, and she brought up a question to me. She actually whispered it in hopes of no one hearing her.
She asked, "Why are people moving here? I don't get what all the hype is about other than the mountains."
I mean, she kind of has a point right? She grew up in a town where everyone knew everyone, it was small, and she liked that. Many will argue this and I'm guessing some will be angered. That's ok though, everyone gets to have their own opinion.
Other than the obvious outdoor appeal, the mountains, hiking, fishing, etc. there isn't much more to do on an everyday basis here in Bozeman. The love for supporting local is something that Montana does extremely well. So when local businesses are having special events, the people show up. But without those special events, what do people do?
If you don't ski, what do your winter activities consist of? Not everyone has a snowmobile to escape to Big Sky for the weekend.
The local lady pointed out that we have more dog parks than kid parks. Indoor basketball courts are almost non-existent. You can only see so many movies and throw so many strikes on bowling night. So she asks a valid question, "why are people dying to moving here?"
Before everyone has a melt down, think about the question. The more things you can come up with the better. I can share them with her. Perhaps she is just missing out on some of the best hidden gems in Bozeman. But after 60 years of living in Bozeman, I'm sure she has more hidden gems than you.
