The Montana Department of Transportation began initial construction on a roundabout project at Baxter and Love Lane.

The project really kicks off, complete with travel delays, this week (July 22).

Expect delays in the area for the remainder of the summer.

MDT says the reason for the project is to cut down on accidents at this intersection and to proactively accommodate the population growth in the area.

The roundabout will include:

  • An 18-foot travel lane
  • A 14-foot wide "truck apron"
  • LED lighting, curb, gutters and no-maintenance landscaping in the center median.

Most of the work will be completed by the fall.
