October 12th is National Farmer's Day. We should be thanking farmers everyday for making sure we have food to eat, just don't forget to thank a farmer on October 12th.
The folks from Heineken beer have visited Montana more often than my out-of-state friends in the last 5 years. The result? Hopefully, more Montana barley being purchased by the multinational beer maker.
With 7.16 people per square mile, Montana DOES have more cows than people. Farming and ranching is still incredibly important across the entire state. (We've got 2.51 cattle per person, BTW.)
Montana State University's College of Agriculture and the Montana Agricultural Experiment Station will host the 15th annual Celebrate Agriculture!! event on campus October 25 - 26. All events are FREE and open to the public. Full schedule here:
