Billy Joel's 'River of Dreams,' his most recent pop project, was released on Aug. 10, 1993.

Billy Joel surprised a New York City high school by singing two songs and fielding some questions from the class. According to the Associated Press, the singer-songwriter made an appearance at the Frank Sinatra School of the Arts in Queens on Thursday (May 30). Singer Tony Bennett, who opened the school a dozen years ago, was also there.

Born a few months apart in the New York area, lifelong labelmates and members of the (other) Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Billy Joel and Bruce Springsteen have a lot in common. In addition, both are also well-known motorcycle fans, and Joel has built a bike for his old friend.

Although he's spent the past few months saying that he's given up touring, Billy Joel may have had a change of heart. In a new interview, Joel says that if he launch another tour, fans shouldn't expect a typical greatest hits show.

This really just made our week, no joke.

It's not even Christmas and we're starting to hear about albums that are coming out in time for Valentine's Day. Today (Dec. 3) comes the news that Billy Joel will release 'She's Got A Way: Love Songs' on Jan. 22, 2013.

When Billy Joel was a young artist entertaining offers from record labels, he ultimately chose Columbia because it was “a company that knows how to build a career.” On Nov. 8, Columbia/Legacy Recordings will honor that successful career by releasing a limited-edition Joel boxed set and a two-disc version of his 1973 breakthrough album, ‘Piano Man.’
