Gusty winds are going to continue through Gallatin County with snow joining the fun. Not much accumulation is expected in town, but the mountains could see up to 6" of fresh snow.
At least a dozen counties have some sort of Wind Advisory or Winter Weather Advisory in effect for this weekend with wind gusts up to 60 MPH in some locations.
Our mountains are getting another round of snow, with up to 10 inches near Homestake Pass and Georgetown Lake. The high elevations around Bozeman are only supposed to see up to 5" by Tuesday morning.
The brutal cold temperatures are no secret this week. Gallatin County and most of Montana are under a week long deep freeze. Now add a Wind Chill Advisory on top of that.
Keep that shovel handy because more valley and mountain snow is on the way for the Bozeman area. A fresh Winter Storm Watch may bring 12" of mountain snow by Saturday morning.
Southern Gallatin and Madison counties continue to get lots of snowfall and the Winter Weather Advisory now continues until 5am Saturday morning with several more inches of fresh snow possible.
The southern portions of Madison and Gallatin counties could be quite treacherous for travel through Thursday evening. Snow and wind are both expected for the southern Mountains near the Idaho border.
