The organizer of today's St. Patrick's Day parade was arrested on a felony drunken driving charge Wednesday afternoon in Butte.

Mollie A. Kirk, 61, of Butte faces a possible fourth offense driving under the influence charge after she was stopped by police about 3:30 p.m. while driving at Texas and Marcia, according to the Butte police and jail reports.

Kirk is the longtime director of Butte Celebrations, which organizes the Mining City's St. Patrick's Day Parade, the Fourth of July Parade and other events.

The police report indicated an officer on patrol allegedly witnessed a vehicle being driven recklessly on Texas Avenue Wednesday. The vehicle was pulled over, and after the officer conducted a field sobriety test on the driver, Kirk was arrested on suspicion of DUI, police reported.

Police records show this is her fourth DUI offense. She also was cited with misdemeanor reckless driving.

Kirk was released from jail a few hours after her arrest by posting a $5,195 bond, according to the jail roster.
