He has won Grammys, Academy Awards and worked with everyone from Sting to Sinatra. Acclaimed French composer Michel Legrand is making a special trip to Bozeman for a one-night-only concert at The Ellen Theatre on Thursday, September 13th.

You may not immediately recognize the name, but his work is loved the world over, earning Legrand five Grammy Awards for such hits as What Are You Doing The Rest Of Your Life?, The Windmills of Your Mind and Brian’s Song.  He is a Golden Globe winner with a total of 13 nominations and has composed the soundtracks for many popular films, including the Oscar-winning Summer of ’42, The Thomas Crown Affair, Ice Station Zebra and Yentl. In addition, Legrand’s musical theatre productions (Amour and The Umbrellas of Cherbourg to name two) have graced the most renowned stages of New York, London, Tokyo and Paris.

Joining Mr. Legrand onstage will be his lovely wife and world-class harpist Catherine Michel, who is a soloist with the Paris Opera. Of the two of them performing together, The Times London proclaimed, Breath-taking music from Legrand. With the addition of his wife Michel, there are not enough words to describe the beauty of this magical evening, but for starters… wonderful, superb and brilliant!”

In addition to Sting and Frank Sinatra, Legrand’s list of collaborators is staggering, with such luminaries as Barbra Streisand, Miles Davis, Quincy Jones, Andy Williams, Lena Horne, Dionne Warwick, Diana Ross, Neil Diamond, Liza Minelli, Johnny Mathis, Perry Como, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Oscar Peterson, Stephane Grappelli, Phil Woods, George Benson, Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles. In 2010, Legrand celebrated 50 years in show business with a star-studded tribute concert at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, playing onstage with special guests Dionne Warwick, George Benson, Melissa Manchester, Patti Page and Jennifer O’Neill.

Tickets for this night of incredible music are reasonably priced, thanks to a generous sponsorship from Dr. Leslie Hayes, from only $19.50 to $36, plus a $1 Ellen Restoration Fund per ticket.
