Additional Information

Montana Grizzly Encounter (MGE) invites wildlife enthusiasts, curious explorers, and bear lovers of all ages to meet world famous “Grizzly Guy” Casey Anderson and Brutus the Bear at the 4th Annual Grizzly Gala on Aug. 8. Activities begin at 10 a.m. at the sanctuary at 80 Bozeman Hill Rd right off of 1-90 toward Livingston and will continue throughout the day until 7 p.m. This fun and educational fundraiser will help support the resident rescue bears and the free educational programs the sanctuary provides for school groups.

For the regular admission price of $7 for adults 13 and over and $5 for kids age four through 12, $6 for seniors, attendees will not only have the chance to view the sanctuary’s five rescued bears in their natural habitat, but will also be treated to educational lectures on bears in the wilderness, up close and personal interaction with rescued raptors from the Montana Raptor Center and a chance to interact with camels from Camel Discovery. Lunch will be cooking on the grill for a $5 donation beginning at 11 a.m., and there will be a silent auction chock-full of bear-centric delights throughout the day.

The main excitement will be the raffle for dinner with Casey Anderson that night or a chance to meet Brutus the Bear in person right after the event. For those who may not hold the lucky tickets, Casey Anderson will be on hand in the afternoon to chat with fans, sign autographs and talk about the importance of understanding how bears act in the wilderness.

MGE currently houses four bears rescued from poor environments in captivity and one orphaned cub from Alaska. While these bears cannot live in the wild, they help the staff at MGE teach scores of children and visitors to Yellowstone Park about bears in the wild and the proper way to treat bear encounters while hiking and backpacking.

The Grizzly Gala will take place at the Montana Grizzly Encounters Sanctuary at 80 Bozeman Hill Rd from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 8. This family-friendly event will feature not only educational talks about bear safety and respect but also a chance to learn about other wild animals like the raptors from Montana Raptor Center and camels from Camel Discovery. Lunch from the grill will be served starting at 11 a.m. Bear lovers will also be pleased to meet Casey Anderson - naturalist, TV host and best friend of Brutus the Bear. Face painting, a silent auction and a raffle to meet Brutus or have dinner with Casey will help provide for the bears and the educational program over the winter.
