Bozeman Symphony chamber ensembles PercOrchestra and Sue Makeever with Friends will perform a concert at the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts – 415 East Lewis Street, Livingston, MT - on Thursday, August 27th at 7:30 PM. Symphony at the Shane performances feature the very best of the Bozeman Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Choir. Each performance showcases two diverse ensembles. You’ll be wowed by these fantastic musicians and proud to know they are your neighbors!

PercOrchestra- Formed in 2000, PercOrchestra (Mark Brown, Kristofer Olsen, Stephen Versaevel, and Jeff Vick) performs a wide range of percussion literature on a musical journey around the world featuring: West African drumming, Steel Drum from Trinidad, marimba and percussion ensembles. The program for Symphony at the Shane on August 27 includes:

Sue Makeever with Friends- Principal flute of the Bozeman Symphony, Sue Makeever, will be joined by two special guests presenting a program for flute, violin, and guitar. Special guests Megan Karls, violin, and Elizabeth Adcock, guitar, travel from the nearby Great Falls, MT and Billings, MT to present this special assortment of music for this unique trio. Program features works by J.S. Bach arr. Eric Dussalt, Maximo Diego Pujol, Atanas Ourkouzounov, Ingolf Dahl and Jean-Michel Coquery.

Elizabeth Adcock, guitar
Elizabeth Adcock, classical guitarist, is originally from Santa Barbara, California where she studied with Turan Mirza-Kamal and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California - Santa Barbara. She continued her studies on the guitar at the Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris earning the Brevet d'Examens. She also attended master classes in Spain, Switzerland and Paris. On her return to the United States, she attended a master class given by Christopher Parkening in Bozeman and has subsequently been invited to be a guest performer as part of the annual master class series. Elizabeth performs regularly with the Yellowstone Chamber Players in Billings and has been a guest performer for the Red Lodge Music Festival. She is also the recipient of a Billings Symphony grant to teach guitar in the Montana Women's Prison this fall. Elizabeth is on the faculty of Montana State University- Billings where she has taught for 16 years and maintains a private studio.

Megan Karls, violin
Megan Karls is delighted to be in her third season with the Cascade Quartet and Principal Second Violin of the Great Falls Symphony. She also enjoys performing across the state of Montana with the String Orchestra of the Rockies, Festival Amadeus, Yellowstone Chamber Players, Billings Symphony, Bozeman Symphony and the Helena Symphony. Before moving to Montana, Megan held positions with Green Bay, Des Moines, National Music Festival, Bard Summer Festival, Fox Valley, and Waterloo-Cedar Falls symphony orchestras. Megan is a founding member of the ground-breaking new music ensemble, the Enid Trio. The Enids have commissioned over 25 new works for their unique instrumentation (violin, viola and bassoon) and have been guest artists and clinicians at Oberlin Conservatory, Lawrence University, Wichita State University, Emporia State University, and Roundtop.
She spends her summers in Michigan on the faculty at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp and the Superior String Alliance and maintains a private studio in Great Falls. Megan holds Bachelor’s Degrees with honors in Political Science and Violin Performance from Lawrence University and a Masters Degree from the University of Iowa, where she was awarded a Graduate Fellowship and a Research Assistantship with the Iowa Center for Contemporary Music. During her time away from the violin, Megan can be found hiking, camping, or watching Green Bay Packer football.

Susan Makeever, flute
Susan Makeever is the Principal Flute of the Bozeman and Billings Symphonies, the Intermountain Opera, and the Montana Ballet Orchestra. She is a member of several chamber ensembles, including the Yellowstone Chamber Players, Kreutzer Trio, and Flutes and Friends. Sue was invited to tour Brazil with the Kreutzer Trio is 1998, as part of a United States Department Grant. She was also a soloist with the Muir String Quartet in 2005. Sue has taught at the Red Lodge Music Festival, Rushmore, Northwest, and Illinois Summer Music Camps. Susan earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from the University of Illinois, a Master of Music Performance from Northwestern University, and completed all her course work and recitals toward a Doctorate of Music from Florida State University. She has studied with Geoffrey Gilbert, Walfrid Kujala, Charles DeLaney, Kenton Terry, Jacob Berg, and Mary Louise Poor. She has attended master classes with James Galway, at the Royal Irish Conservatory in Dublin, Ireland, and Jean-Pierre Rampal, at the Academie d’Ete, in Nice, France. Before coming to Montana, Sue taught at the University of North Texas.
