The Rolling Stones have a history of inviting eclectic acts to support them on the road. In recent years, everyone from Sugar Ray to Sheryl Crow has opened for the Biggest Band on Earth, and tomorrow night (Nov. 29), that list will reportedly grow to include Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine.

The U.K.'s Daily Mirror tabloid (via the NME) reports that Welch will join the Stones (along with rock legend Eric Clapton) for an all-star version of the band's classic hit 'Gimme Shelter' during its next show at London's O2 Arena. The second in a brief string of sold-out gigs in honor of the band's 50th anniversary, it comes after a concert that saw guest appearances from Mary J. Blige, Jeff Beck and former Stones Mick Taylor and Bill Wyman.

"Mary J. Blige did the female vocal part for the first show, which blew the crowd away," an anonymous source told the Mirror. "But Florence is determined to raise the bar even higher. It will be an incredible moment. Eric is also taking part at some point, which will be historic too."

Pointing out that Welch's busy tour schedule makes her Stones cameo something of a logistic feat, the source added, "It is very, very tight indeed but it will definitely happen. You would never in a million years turn down the opportunity to duet with Mick on such an iconic song."
