Grandaddy Are Working on Their First New Album in Nearly a Decade
Jason Lytle sent out a tweet into the ether last night (Aug. 31), and now we have something to look forward to: a new Gradaddy album.
To his credit, Lytle didn’t bury the lede, but he quite casually mentioned that the indie-rockers are currently working on a new album before issuing a friendly reminder to himself that none of the tracks on the band’s 2000 full-length, The Sophtware Slump, had “more than 20 tracks.... 16 on the average!”
This isn't Lytle's first mention of a new Grandaddy album. He also hinted at the possibility in a tweet earlier this summer.
It’s been nearly a decade since Grandaddy dropped their last album, Just Like the Fambly Cat. In 2012, the band reunited for a handful of concerts and festival dates.
Lytle released his most recent solo album, House Show, at the end of last year. He also served as the producer on Band of Horses’ forthcoming fifth full-length and worked with the band on their song, “Hang an Ornament,” which arrived back in December, too.
