One Huge Mistake Clueless Transplants Keep Making in Bozeman
Transplants and out-of-staters moving to Montana have constantly been a thorn in the side of longtime residents. If comments on social media are any indication, Montanans aren't too thrilled about all of the people from other states flocking to Big Sky Country.
Real estate prices throughout the state have skyrocketed due to demand far outweighing the supply of available housing. That's one of the many issues that is causing frustration in the state, but it's not the only one. I've seen a lot of vehicles with out-of-state plates failing to obey local traffic laws, and not being courteous to other drivers on the road.
I commute from Manhattan every day for work, and always use the 7th St. exit, and I see people breaking the speed limit on a daily basis. There are also a lot of people that run red lights or try to make it through the intersection when they clearly don't have enough time to do it safely.
Those are just a couple of examples, but there's one thing that I've seen a lot that makes me think that some people simply aren't paying attention to their surroundings. I understand that getting acquainted with a place you haven't been before can be difficult, but people need to open their eyes and get a clue.
The Huge Mistake That Transplants Making in Bozeman?
If you're familiar with the Bozeman area, you probably know that there are two one-way streets in the downtown area. Mendenhall St. goes west, and Babcock St. goes east. I've noticed a lot of people driving in the wrong direction, and almost every time I see it, it's a vehicle with out-of-state plates. I actually yelled at a guy that drove past my work going the wrong way yesterday. He thanked me and turned around immediately.
Crossing the street on either Mendenhall or Babcock is already dangerous for pedestrians as it is, and with Bozeman's growing population it keeps getting worse. Many of the problems caused by transplants could easily be avoided if they actually paid attention to traffic laws and didn't put the lives of other drivers and residents in danger.
