As tax season comes to a close, last minute filers are keeping workers at the Montana Department of Revenue are on their toes.

"We've processed more than 377,300 individual state income tax returns for the 2012 tax year," said Department of Revenue spokeswoman Mary Ann Dunwell, midway through the final day of tax season. "To date we've issued more than 295,000 refunds that add up to $123.5 million."

Dunwell said that 25 to 30 million dollars are expected to pour into the Department of Revenue every day for the next few weeks as last minute filings make their way to Helena.

For Missoula area residents who missed the deadline, or don't think they can make their payments call the Department of Revenue's field office at 866 859-2254. They may be able to help callers avoid unnecessary fines and create a delayed payment plan.
