What was supposed to be a rainy day has turned out to be a snowy day in Bozeman and southwest Montana in general. Up to 4" of fresh snow could fall in town, with up to 9" of snow in the southern mountains by Thursday night.

Travel in Gallatin and Madison counties is being affected by the weather, with snow accumulating quickly on some roadways. Visibility is GREATLY reduced at times with the wind kicking up at times. The further south you go, the more snow you're going to encounter.

Yellowstone National Park has it's own advisory for Thursday. Total snow accumulations of 7 to 14 inches are expected over the southwest-quarter of Yellowstone National Park.

  • WHAT...Snow occurring. Additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches with 5 to 9 inches over the Centennial Mountains.
  • Winds gusting as high as 40 mph over mountain ridges.
  • WHERE...Gallatin and Madison County Mountains and Centennial Mountains.
  • WHEN...Until 9 PM Thursday evening.
  • IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult, especially over Raynolds and Targhee passes.
  • Patchy blowing snow could reduce visibility.
  • PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Slow down and use caution while traveling.
  • The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
