KALISPELL, Mont. (AP) — An apparent feud between two men came to an end in northwestern Montana with one man suspected of shooting the other.

Flathead County officials identified the victim of the weekend shooting as 60-year-old Harold Gordon. Officers arrested 52-year-old Mark Bolton Ames on suspicion of deliberate homicide. No charges were filed Monday.

The shooting happened at about 1:45 a.m. Sunday outside a duplex in Marion, where Gordon lived in one unit and Ames' estranged wife in the other.

Investigators say Ames fired several rounds from an AK-47 into Gordon's apartment. Undersheriff Dave Leib said Gordon reportedly came outside with a shotgun and Ames shot him with a handgun.

Leib says the men had a history of altercations. He said Gordon had a restraining order against Ames in Montana and Ames had one against Gordon in Washington state.
