27-year old Grammy Award winning singer Amy Winehouse was found dead in her London home this morning.

The British entertainer had checked out of a treatment program just last month, and was preparing for an upcoming European tour to take place yet this summer. Winehouse has had a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and run-ins with the law.

Last month, Winehouse was slated to play a series of comeback performances in Europe, but the tour was cut short after a performance in Serbia where she was slurring her lyrics and stumbling onstage.

Amy’s family has released a touching statement: “Our family has been left bereft by the loss of Amy, a wonderful daughter, sister, niece. She leaves a gaping hole in our lives. We are coming together to remember her and we would appreciate some privacy and space at this terrible time.”More on this story as it develops.
