The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for critical fire weather for all of Southwest Montana through 9 p.m. tonight. The warning has been issued again today due to gusty winds and low relative humidity, which makes fighting local fires difficult.

A High Wind Warning has also been issued for Gallatin, Beaverhead and Madison counties until midnight tonight. There have been reports of winds up to 50 mph across the area. This Wind Warning calls for the potential of 70 mph winds. The combination of these strong winds with the dry, hot weather we've been having makes fighting wildfires difficult. Wildfires can quickly expand under these conditions, recreational fires can also quickly get out of control. Please take head to this Red Flag warning and be cautious!
