Bozeman and Yellowstone are next door neighbors. It's no secret that Yellowstone is one of the most geologically active and earthquake prone areas on the planet and given recent activity across the globe, one can't help but think of our "neighbor". How do you prepare?
There's an interesting article in the Great Falls Tribune today, actually it's a fictional letter from a fourth grader who just moved here from Virginia. She wants to know why Montana doesn't have a spring season (like Virginia). The response from the Tribune column writer sheds light on Montana's unique spring (I think his sincere answer leaves much to be admired). Although he speaks of Northcentral Montana, all seems to apply to Southwest Montana.
The National Weather Service has issues a Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 2:00pm this afternoon through 5:00am Thursday morning. 2 to 4 inches of snow are expected in the lower elevations, with 4 to 7 inches likely in the mountains.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Southwest Montana through 11:00am this morning. Periods of snow will continue through late morning. Total accumulation of 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected in the lower elevations, with 6 to 8 inches expected in the mountains.
