You've seen this funky beauty in downtown Bozeman. It is one of Bozeman's original apartment buildings and it was designed with a purpose by the well-known Bozeman architect Fred Willson, dating back to 1916.

So how much does a piece of history like this cost? A pretty penny, but quite honestly it's less than I would have guessed. (Information in this article came directly from the Realtor.com listing as of 6/6/2022.)

This building had an interesting purpose when it was originally designed and built. It was built to house nurses! (Sure could use more of that in recent months, eh?) According to the official listing:

"The is a five-unit apartment building nestled in the southside of downtown Bozeman amongst its most stately homes. Designed by Fred Wilson, it was originally constructed to house nurses.

Featuring 4 identical large one bedroom, one bath apartments on the middle and top floor. The lower level features a two bedroom, two bath unit, common laundry area and additional storage spaces.

Accessed from the rear of the property there are 4 off street parking spaces along with 4 single car garage stalls. Lots of updates without jeopardizing the original character and charm."

I'm hoping this property finds the perfect buyer who makes the most of it's historical pieces. Those built-ins, the stonework, the 'Willson" notes.

It's none of my business if it's turned into a single family dwelling (if allowed) but it sure would be cool to update the apartments and keep them as downtown rentals. There are fewer and fewer historical buildings used as rentals these days...and eventually they just might disappear.
