Questlove, the drummer of The Roots ("the greatest band in late night"), apparently just told Rolling Stone he recently got into a little bit of trouble with NBC. Quest is now being micro-managed.

I love "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" for many reasons. Jimmy is super talented and funny, the writing is great, and the best hip hop band of all time, The Roots, is the house band! The intro music for guests on the show, which Questlove used to pick,  is always quite clever. That cool little aspect may be changing a bit though.

NBC has punished Quest for playing the Fishbone song "Lyin' Ass Bi***" as Presedential candidate Michele Bachmann walked onto 'Late Night' last month. He told RS that his punishment is more micro-management. He now must clear every song with three different NBC execs. He was also banned from Tweeting about the incident (that must've been very hard for Quest, who Tweets like crazy).

I just hope more corporate managing doesn't halt any contract extensions for The Roots. I was surprised NBC landed these musical pioneers in the first place! We'll keep ya posted. The December 26th issue of Rolling Stone, which features the Questlove interview, hits stands tomorrow (December 9, 2011).
