Traffic Stop Ends In Suicide In Bozeman – Victim’s Name Released [Update]

UPDATE 5/31/13:

This is the latest from Bozeman officials:

In the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 29, Wade Christiansen was stopped by a Bozeman Police Officer for a traffic offense.  He got out of the vehicle he was driving with a handgun and fatally shot himself.

The death was investigated by the Gallatin County Coroner’s Office.  Despite the incident being videotaped by more than one officer on scene, the suicide determination was corroborated by a forensic examination at the State Crime Lab.

In the early morning hours, (May 29, 2013) at about 1:26 a.m., a Bozeman Police Officer tried to stop a Jeep Wrangler near West Main Street and 5th Avenue.
