This is some good news/bad news for me. It's been confirmed that Disney is moving forward on a sequel to The Muppets (thumbs up), but Jason Segel is saying that he will not be co-writing or starring in it (and this would be the time to turn that thumb upside down).

Jason Segel had a big hand in successfully bringing the Muppets back to the big screen, as an executive producer and co-writer of the screenplay. From one original muppet fan to clearly another (in Segel), I can't thank him enough for doing that in the perfect way (you might remember my glowing post after seeing the movie). Given Segel's busy schedule of T.V. and film projects, the actor/producer/writer will not have anything to do with the next muppet installment. He told collider.com,

My goal was to bring The Muppets back and I did that leaving them in very good hands, my writing partner and James Bobin the director. I did what I set out to do, and now I wanna pursue more human-related projects. All I wanted to do was to set the stage for them to do whatever they wanted. I'm sure I'll return in some capacity here and there, but that was half a decade of my life. Five years of hard work. I'm ready for a little puppet break.

I totally get it after hearing that...but the little kid in me is still disappointed.
