Yahoo! did an article about the best skiing destinations in terms of vertical drops in Montana. I'm assuming these are possible the best in the world as well, right? Montana gloating aside, check out the list and possibly add a few destinations to your winter travels plans.

Yup! It's that time of year for Moonlight Basin's "Montana Appreciation Day". Montana residents with a VALID I.D. (Montana Driver's License, valid military or in-state university) will get a $20 lift ticket THIS FRIDAY!

This Friday, Dec. 16th, you can get a free lift ticket at Moonlight Basin just by turning in a turkey or 20lbs of food. Count me in! Thanks to Ski Bozeman for the tip.

Sadly we weren't able to make it to the mountain this past weekend but this video is getting us excited for when we finally do strap on the board and skis and get on the lift chair.

This was my fourth winter here and I know, it took me way too long, but I've finally embraced this one like a true Bozemanite by hitting the slopes! I'm from Connecticut where skiing and boarding isn't nearly as big a deal, probably because we have a couple hills to ski (not mountains).

The fresh snow that has fallen on Southwest Montana over the past couple of weeks has put smiles on both skiers & boarders; and ski area operators alike. The early season openings have not just benefited Big Sky, Moonlight, and Bridger; but ski areas across the state.

With Bridger Bowl and Moonlight Basin moving up opening dates due to record snowfall, area skiers and boarders are poised to hit the mountains.
