Snow has arrived in town but we're NOT supposed to get as much as originally thought in the mountains.

Streets in town will probably melt off today but a few more inches in the higher elevations today around Helena, Bozeman and West Yellowstone should stick.

More snow is on the way for Butte and it's surrounding areas, especially the high elevations and mountain passes with up to 5 more inches possible.

Reasonably warm temperatures will return today combined with several inches of snow possible in the higher elevations. In town, rain or slush is your best weather bet today.

The Bozeman area is under a weather double whammy Monday with snow in the forecast along with possible high winds. Travel could be extremely dangerous at times on Monday through Tuesday morning.

Today could be very slick while traveling over Homestake Pass, in the Georgetown Lake area or MacDonald Pass with snow possible with a Winter Weather Advisory.

Sunday could be very slick while traveling over Homestake Pass or in the Georgetown Lake area with several inches of snow possible with a Winter Weather Advisory.

It's not the amount of snow that's a concern tonight, but light snow being compacted and becoming extremely icy in the Butte and Homestake Pass area.

Wednesday is going to bring several more inches of snow to southwest Montana, prompting another Winter Weather Advisory for Butte and Missoula.

Higher mountain passes in southwest Montana will become snow covered and experience more wind today into this evening making for poor driving conditions.

Snow and very cold temperatures are in the forecast for north central and SW Montana through Wednesday night. A few inches are possible in town with up to a foot in the mountains.

Most of southwest Montana is under a Winter Weather Advisory through Friday afternoon, including the Bozeman and West Yellowstone areas.
