The PR Newswire reported that, based on food sales, the Super Bowl is the second-biggest eating day of the year in this country (second only to Thanksgiving). Chicken wings are a popular Super Bowl food and The National Chicken Council projected just how many wings Americans will eat during this year's big game. The number is actually unbelievable.

According to the estimates, Americans will consume more than 1.25 Billion wings this Super Bowl Sunday! Based on last year's audience of 111 million people, that would be over 11 wings per person. That seems a bit much, even for this Super wing lover.

Wings weren't even the most popular Super Bowl food. Dips are number one, wings came in second, and pizza and potato chips tied for number three. Here's some more  interesting Super Bowl food stats; The average Super Bowl party host will spend between $50 and $100 on food for their party. 38 % will spend $50, 12% will spend over $100. 34% of people going to Super Bowl parties say they really don't care about the game, they're just there for the party and the food.

As I said, I love me some good wings. I especially love wings on Super Sunday. The only time they taste better is when my team is playing in the Super Bowl, which is the case this year. That being said, I've been on the hunt for the perfect local wing for this year's game. A new wing joint just conveniently opened up in town and I went there today to sample the goods. I am very happy to report that Chicky Wicky Wings in downtown Bozeman is the real deal folks. Excellent fried up wings with an array of delicious homemade sauces! They're located at 242 West Main St. They also offer sandwiches, salads and more. The wings though, good enough for my Super Bowl party this year. Go Giants!!
