Big Expansion Plans at Local Hockey Arena in Bozeman
Major expansion plans for the hockey facilities at Haynes Pavilion in Bozeman are great news for local hockey players and fans of the sport.
There are diehard hockey fans scattered all across Montana, and soon, there will be a place in Bozeman where they can catch a game.
Gallatin Ice is officially in the final phase of its long-term vision with the Finish the Ice Barn: West Side campaign, and new additions at the facility will turn it into a true community hub and gathering place for athletes and fans.

In 2017, the Ice Barn added a second sheet of ice and some much-needed breathing room for local programs. Since then, demand has exploded. Youth hockey, adult leagues, figure skating, public skate times, and Montana State hockey. They’re all competing for ice time in a town that keeps growing.
When completed, the $8.1 million project will add more seating, food options, and locker rooms for the MSU Bobcat hockey team.
For the 2026-27 season, you can expect an upgraded arena that has 1,300 seats, a restaurant and pub, expanded restrooms, an executive suite, a mezzanine, and new locker rooms for your MSU Bobcats.
The Ice Barn will also have a new name by the end of 2026. It will be renamed the Bottcher Families Community Ice Center. Seat naming rights are available for purchase [here].
If you want to help Gallatin Ice complete the expansion, you can find additional details about the expansion on their website.
The new facilities will bring tournaments, events, and visitors to town, boosting the local economy while giving kids and athletes a first-class place to play.
