Prior to graduating from the Montana State University School of Music this semester, Eric Lewis of Bozeman, placed second in the 23rd Northwest Guitar Festival held in Spokane, Wash., April 11 to 13.

The Northwest Guitar Festival, created in 1991 by James Reid, provides an opportunity for students and professionals in the region to get together once a year for three days of concerts, lectures, and a competition. The first festival took place at the University of Idaho and subsequent festivals have occurred throughout the region in such cities as Boise, Seattle, Bellingham, Bozeman, Spokane, Lethbridge, Calgary, Vancouver, and Victoria.

Lewis was one of four guitar players selected out of 19 semi-finalists this year from across the Northwest, British Columbia and Alberta to perform Saturday, April 12.
