Darth Vader Jams Rage Against the Machine to Raise Money for New Death Star
When you’re raising money to build a new Death Star, you’ve got to get creative with your fundraising techniques. On the streets of Melbourne, Australia, Darth Vader himself busted out his bass and jammed Rage Against the Machine to scrounge a few bucks from whoever happened to pass by.
This busker is apparently known as the Imperial Bass Player or, for some reason, Funky Bunny. He’s been all around Melbourne for at least a year and a half, but it’s a video of Vader crushing “Killing in the Name” that finally went viral on Facebook, getting over six million views. The “Need Money for New Death Star” sign is another lovely touch, though he seems to be drastically short of funds for the construction of a Moon-sized space station.
Taking a deeper dive into YouTube, the Imperial Bass Player has been filmed performing AC/DC’s “Back in Black,” Led Zeppelin’s “Black Dog,” Survivor’s “Eye of the Tiger,” and of course, the “Imperial March” theme from Star Wars.
So if you happen to be strolling around Melbourne’s city streets, keep your ears open for a distorted bass and take in some culture. Be sure to throw Lord Vader a few bucks too. Australia’s got $1 and $2 coins, and who really wants to keep a pocket full of shrapnel?
