Fire Burning in Bridger Mountain Range Near the ‘M’
On Friday afternoon, a fire started in the Bridger Mountain Range near the popular 'M' hiking trail.
As of 4:00 p.m., a huge plume of smoke can be seen north of Bozeman and throughout the Gallatin Valley.

The fire was reported shortly before 3:00 p.m. and has continued to grow. Crews are on scene battling the blaze, and no evacuation orders have been issued. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

The Gallatin County Sheriff's Office is aware of the fire near the 'M' and asks that residents do not call 911 or the Sheriff's Office. They have been overwhelmed with phone calls.
The U.S. Forest Service is assisting with fight the with ground and air resources. Hyalite Fire is not responding at this time as the fire is not accessible by any roadways.
