The Flaming Lips and Wayne Coyne haven’t conquered Broadway … yet. That might be the next thing to check off their band bucket list, however, as 'Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots,' a musical inspired by the band's Grammy-winning 2002 album of the same name, might be headed towards the Great White Way.

The musical originally debuted at the La Jolla Playhouse in California in November of last year. Now, Korean producer Chun-soo Shin wants to move the musical -- which traces the grand story of Yoshimi, a Japanese artist engaged in the battle of her life as she drifts alone, far from her family and her lover, in a fantastical robot world, where her will to survive is tested by evil forces hellbent on her destruction -- to the next level.

Shin has designs on Broadway and Asia in 2014, according to Broadway World, so it would truly be a global production. Key details, like dates, casting and a theater location, have not been confirmed.

The La Jolla production was pretty awesome, by the way. It featured glowing LED costumes, projections and 14-foot robot puppet. Imagine what the producers could do with a Broadway-sized budget. We'd wager that the Broadway show would be nothing short of epic.
