Bozeman Plans Vibrant New Addition to Downtown Area
Residents of Bozeman will soon notice a colorful new addition to the downtown area, according to a press release from the City of Bozeman.
Will summer right around the corner, Bozeman has something special planned that will make being downtown more pleasant for residents and visitors.
To continue its commitment to sustainability and beautification, the city purchased 120 Earth Planter self-watering hanging flower baskets for summer 2023. The new self-watering baskets provide improved plant growth by regulating water delivery based on soil conditions while reducing labor costs, fuel, and water usage. The baskets only need to be watered 2-3 times per week rather than 7 times per week. Click here to learn more about the baskets.
The addition of more self-watering flower baskets follows the successful piloting of two self-watering baskets in 2019 and the purchase of 42 self-watering baskets in 2022 for the expanded flower basket boundary to include Mendenhall St. and Babcock St. The 120 new baskets will replace the existing wrought iron baskets on the side streets of downtown.
There will also be sponsorship opportunities for local businesses and individuals to help support the sustainable beautification effort. In return, your name will be featured on 2, 5, or 8 color-printed metal signs placed on street lamps. Click here for more information.
It sounds like this is just the start. The Downtown Bozeman Business Improvement District (BID) board plans to continue this effort and buy more self-watering baskets for Main Street in the coming years. A total of 316 hanging flower baskets will be installed downtown by mid-June by Oak Gardens Nursery. The Downtown BID invites community members out to stroll Main Street to check out the new baskets and enjoy one of Bozeman’s favorite summer traditions.
