Check Out Gary Clark Jr.’s Amped-Up Cover of the Beatles’ ‘Come Together’
Gary Clark Jr. has released a video for his cover of the Beatles' "Come Together," which will be included in the upcoming Justice League film. The new clip, which you can watch above, includes some never-before-seen footage.
For Clark, being part of this movie is a little kid's dream come true. "Batman is my favorite superhero of all time,” he has said. "My mother had this black robe that I thought would be amazing for a cape. I ran around my neighborhood telling everybody I was Batman. Jump off my roof holding the cape thinking that I would fly and then just hit the ground."
Clark originally premiered the song in an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers; he's set to perform it again during a Thursday stop on Late Late Show With James Corden. Warner Bros. will then release Justice League on Nov. 17.
"Come Together" was updated during sessions at the Village Recorders in Los Angeles, with production handled by Junkie XL, Mike Elizondo, and Sam de Jong. Clark, though typically featured in a more straight-ahead blues-rock setting, said he and XL immediately hit it off.
"I showed up in the studio in L.A., and we sat down and got the vibe, and he played me the track and I was blown away by it — just the sounds this guy came up with," Clark said earlier this year. "And he said, 'Y'know that buzzy guitar thing that you? Just do that and sing the hell out of it.' So that's what I did, and it really flowed. We just kind of spoke the same language without really saying anything."
Notable new shots include Amazon Warrior doing battle with Steppenwolf; there are also previously unseen footage in the above video featuring Batman, Wonder Woman and the Flash.
