When one thinks of Montana, we think of beauty, mountains, road trips, camping, and the list goes on and on.

Growing up, we would have to drive 6 hours to visit my grandparents in western North Dakota. On that drive, we had our traditional stops which included the "good gas stations". By good, it meant they either had fast food place nearby or attached and a clean bathroom. Two VERY important assets to any road trip.

Considering Montana is the 4th largest state in the United States, if you are planning a road trip, you will most likely have to stop and use the restroom at some point like I did growing up.

Let's just say, you may want to think twice about snacking on that gas station burrito before hitting the road.

Is finding a good clean bathroom to use on your Montana road trip going to be an issue? According to  Lavatory Lab, it absolutely could be a problem.

Ok, so what exactly constitutes a clean bathroom? Personally, I don't want to have sticky floors and dirty toilets. I can sanitize my hands and plug my nose, but if that toilet looks like a battlefield, there is a good chance I will attempt to hold my bladder until the next stop.

Lavatory Lab takes a few things into consideration:

  • Cleanliness
  • Smell
  • Privacy
  • Lack of toilet paper
  • Lack of soap

I always question places that are out of soap. That tells me 3 things:

1. That the employees are most likely not using the bathroom while at work.
2. Not cleaning the bathroom hourly like most places "require".
3. Employees are using the bathroom and not washing their hands.

Planning a road trip through Montana? Don't forget your hand sanitizer and just be prepared for the worst.
