HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’ Raptures Final Trailer, Extensive Making-Of Featurette
Following a two-week delay, HBO's new Damon Lindelof rapture drama 'The Leftovers' will finally premiere this coming Sunday alongside an all-new episode of 'True Blood.' All the various previews have had us on board for months now, though one final sermon trailer and an impressive new behind-the-scenes featurette have more than sealed the deal.
First up, the latest look at HBO's new drama about the aftermath of a worldwide disappearance of 2% of the world's population focuses heavily on Christopher Eccleston's Pastor Matt Jamison, whose congregation has understandably diminished in the wake of the "Sudden Departure." Moreover, the network has also released an extensive half-hour preview going behind the scenes to discuss all the physical, spiritual, and ethical questions raised by the 'Leftovers' crisis.
For those unfamiliar, HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’ follows those left behind on Earth after a rapture of sorts, those not chosen to be taken up to Heaven, or at least so a portion of the population believes of the disappearance. Adapted from Tom Perrotta’s 2009 novel of the same name, the show’s pilot was directed by Peter Berg (‘Lone Survivor‘).
The Leftovers’ also stars Justin Theroux, Liv Tyler, Carrie Coon, Ann Dowd, Amanda Warren, Chris Zylka, Margaret Qualley, Michael Gaston, Max Carver, Charlie Carver, Annie Q, Paterson Joseph, Brad Leland, ‘Private Practice‘ vet Amy Brenneman, and ‘Fringe‘ star Emily Meade.
HBO’s ‘The Leftovers’ will premiere this Sunday on June 29, so check out the latest sneak peeks above and below, and tell us if you’re interested to check out HBO’s new drama from Damon Lindelof!
