Here Are The Reasons Gas Prices Continue To Soar In Montana.
I think it's safe to say most of us are tired of the high gas prices.
Now, I realize that it's summer the folks in charge like to raise the prices because they know more of us will be heading out and hitting the highway, but many Montanas are struggling to make ends meet, and higher fuel costs are not helping.
Just in the last week or so, prices have jumped and before you know it, we could be back to 4 bucks a gallon all over Big Sky Country.
According to AAA as of this writing, the current national average for a gallon of unleaded gas is 3.78 cents a gallon, here in Montana the average price is 3.91 so what in the world is going on? What "excuse" are they giving us now? It seems there are a couple of reasons you and I are paying more at the pump.
Less production and hot weather.
The big oil-producing companies have decided to reduce production, while the high temperatures that have plagued much of the country are being blamed for shutting down refineries and reducing the volume of gas and diesel that they're producing. Oh, and here's some more good news, they're already warning us that if it's a rough hurricane season, we can expect prices to continue to rise.
So how much more will prices go up?
According to Yahoo Finance, we can expect another 10 cents per gallon in the near future, which would put us over 4 bucks a gallon in Montana. In fact, Madison, Jefferson, Park, Judith Basin, Wheatland, and Musselshell countries are already at the 4-dollar or higher mark.
While many Montanans simply have to buckle up and pay, others might start to reconsider travel plans at those price points. What about you? At what point do you start to rethink your travel plans?
