This Fact About Montana is Guaranteed to Gross You Out
If you're planning any long road trips across Montana this year, you may run into a big problem. According to a new study, public restrooms in Montana are some of the worst in the country.
Considering that Montana's economy heavily relies on visitors and tourists, we were surprised to see the state rank so low when it comes to public restrooms. Lavatory Labs released a ranking of public restrooms across the country, and Montana was near the bottom of the list.
Lavatory Lab recently asked 3,000 people to rank the public bathrooms in their state on a scale of 1-10, and Montana scored 4 out of 10.
Why Are Public Restrooms in Montana So Bad?
One of the major issues is cleanliness. From dirty toilets to overflowing trash cans, it's not uncommon to encounter a bathroom that looks like it hasn't been cleaned since the Wild West. People also complained about the lack of privacy and supplies, such as toilet paper and hand soap.
Montana landed in the bottom three, with only two states receiving a lower ranking, Wyoming and New Hampshire. According to the study, Wyoming has the worst public restrooms in the country.

Lavatory Lab says accessibility is the biggest problem with public restrooms in the country.
Perhaps the biggest problem with public bathrooms is the lack of accessibility. While the Americans with Disabilities Act requires that public buildings have accessible restrooms, many public restrooms still fall short. From stalls that are too narrow for a wheelchair to sinks that are too high for someone in a wheelchair to use, public restrooms often fail to accommodate the needs of those with disabilities.
