Montana’s Healthcare Ranking Just Might Surprise You

Healthcare is one of those things that you kind of take for granted, until you need it.

For most of us, we spend years paying into some system that we rarely use and might even see it as a bit of a rip off. However, speaking from experience, when the time comes that you need healthcare, you certainly hope it's good.

I was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer last August and the past year, I've been to multiple doctors, appointments, treatments, etc. I've been poked, prodded, x-rayed, scanned, you name it...and of course they charge for all of that.

You might think that living in Montana, we're lacking when it comes to healthcare coverage, however, according to WalletHub, we ranked in the Top 20 when it comes to the quality of our healthcare.

Pretty impressive huh?

Montana is ranked 18th out of 51 and for those of you who are wondering how they determine those rankings, there are factors that are involved, they add those together to come up with an overall ranking and that's how they determine the outcome. So, for those of you who are curious about the factors, they're listed below:

I realize that when you start talking about healthcare people have strong opinions. However, I would like to add mine to the mix. I live in Bozeman and have been treated at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital and they've been fantastic. The folks at the Cancer Center are wonderful and they make a hard thing as enjoyable as it can be.

I know that they're not the only hospital in Montana that goes above and beyond for their patients.

It's my prayer that you don't ever have to go through what I'm dealing with, but if you do, know that you're in a state that has pretty good folks that will do what they can to help you. They give you hope, and that's a big part of the battle right there.
