If you spend your time on social media, chances are you will come across plenty of negative content regarding the great state of Montana.

Whether it's a Facebook group or a review of a business, people tend to flock to the internet to let everyone know what they think about anything from their hamburger that didn't come with extra pickles, or the way people park around town.

The truth is, that social media can be a complete cesspool filled with folks hiding behind screens while using fake names to put down others.  So, when something positive happens, it's certainly worth talking about.

The Bozeman area was hit pretty hard by a spring snowstorm this week that dumped quite a bit of heavy, wet snow around the area. The big news with the storm was that I-90 through the Bozeman Pass was closed for hours leaving hundreds stranded for a long period.

However, out of that came reports that many locals were offering their homes as a place for those stranded to sleep, shower, and grab a bit to eat.

It's the perfect reminder of just how friendly Montanans are. I've often said that if you spend your life on Social Media, you will miss out on great people doing good things every day.  Yesterday was the perfect example of that.

It should bring us all comfort to know that in a world that is cynical, there are still lots of folks who are willing to help out friends, family, neighbors, and even strangers in their time of need. I've often heard folks talking about the "old Montana" and how folks were willing to roll up their sleeves and help out wherever they could. Those folks should be commended for their kindness and generosity.

It seems to me, that "old Montana" is still alive and well, you just have to look for it.
