There have been several reports about how folks are struggling to make ends meet. In fact, there was something about how almost half of Americans will either cancel or alter their vacation plans this summer.

So, if you're one of those folks who is struggling to get away, here's some good news, there are plenty of places here in Montana than you can check out for a weekend.

While places like Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks are extremely popular, they aren't the only places in Big Sky Country to enjoy all that Montana has to offer.  Whether you're looking for a place to ski, or some charming downtown with restaurants and a social scene, there is plenty to do and see in Montana.

According to the folks over at Reelvibe_Production, there are the Top 5 Places to Spend a Montana Weekend.

  • Red Lodge. Red Lodge is a popular place for weekend getaways and is known not only for it's charm, but it's close access to the Beartooth Highway, which is extremely popular this time of year.
  • Big Sky. While the area has a certain "reputation" for those who are wealthy and famous, there is plenty to do and see for everyone in Big Sky, including some wonderful places to have a meal, plus some amazing ski runs in the winter.
  • Bozeman. Home of the MSU Bobcats, plus a charming downtown area, Bozeman is a popular tourist spot, that is known for all of it's outdoor adventure. Not to mention it is home to the Museum of the Rockies, which is one of the finest museums in the country.
  • Big Fork. Located right on Flathead Lake, Big Fork is popular with locals and those visiting Montana. The town has something for everyone and is close to Glacier National Park for those who are interested.
  • Whitefish. Is it any surprise that Whitefish is number one? Not only is it a charming town, but it's a charming town that has something going on all year round. It was named the friendliest town in the country, and for those who are looking to enjoy Montana, it's certainly worth a visit.
