Ready or not Spring is almost here. Well, if we were honest, I’m not sure that we could say we are leaving a Montana winter. Regardless, the official season change is upon us. Not all creatures like to stick around for the warmer months. Some animals, like light geese, swans, and other waterfowl, prefer colder temperatures.

Each year, hundreds of thousands of migratory birds travel north to the tundra, and Montana is home to one of the most significant routes in their journey, the Pacific Flyway migration route. If you are a bird nerd or just want to see one of the greatest migrations on the planet, you can mark your calendars for this once-a-year celebration. The Wild Wings Festival in Choteau, Montana!

The Wild Wings Festival is March 20-22 at the Freezeout Lake Wildlife Management Area in Choteau, Montana. Freezeout Lake is one of the largest concentrated stops where you can view the birds on their journey north.
Not only will you have the opportunity to watch hundreds of thousands of birds, but there will be tons of other fun activities going on as well. Here is a short list of what you can expect over the weekend.
