Ice skating feels more magical when you enjoy the beauty of what's around you in Montana.

It's winter, and one of the most enjoyable and entertaining activities you can participate in during this time of the year is ice skating. Many folks played hockey growing up, or ice skated occasionally and like to lace up their boots and have some fun on the ice.

Most ice rinks are indoors so folks can stay warm while watching hockey games or events. Plus, it's nice to be protected from bone-chilling frostbite. No one wants to skate and feel miserable.

When the weather is tolerable, ice skating outside can be magical and a fun experience for families and kids.

Places like Bozeman and Philipsburg have outdoor ice rinks, but they don't offer services like skate rentals.

So, where is the best outdoor ice rink in Montana? We might have an answer.

Only In Your State says the Memorial Park Ice Rink in Helena is a winter wonderland you can't miss this season.

Memorial Park Ice Rink freezes over a massive part of their park to turn it into an incredible outdoor rink every year. They host everything from theme parties to curling events and more. They also have skate rentals for those who need a pair before hitting the ice.

Growing up in Polson, Montana, we had an outdoor rink for a short time, and it was a highlight of my winters there. My brother and I would skate as fast as we could around the rink and laugh at each other when we would fall.

Nothing is better than skating around with friends or family and seeing the winter wonderland of Montana around you. It's a special feeling.
