Watch Liam Gallagher’s ‘Come Back to Me’ Video
He returned to King Tut’s in Glasgow earlier this month as part of a tour in support of his debut solo album As You Were. He described the visit as a “return to the scene of the crime,” referring to how Oasis had been spotted playing there by Creation Records owner Alan McGee, who paved their way to the big time by giving them a record deal.
The video was directed by Shane Meadows and features the Glasgow crowd repeating “As you, as you, as you f---ing were” while Gallagher prepares to perform. “Massive thank you to Shane Meadows, his crew and the beautiful people of Glasgow for making that the most pain free video of all time,” the singer tweeted after the performance.
Last month Gallagher confirmed that he was so pleased with the response to As You Were – which outsold the rest of the U.K. Top 20 on its week of release – that he was already thinking about recording a follow-up. “I’m made up that the album’s been received really well. There’s a lot of people who get number one, like, with 3,000 copies these days, and that ain’t f---ing good enough for me. Obviously it sold well, and it seemed like people really want a Liam Gallagher record, so that’s made me happy. So I guess we’ll go and do another one.”
He’s nearing the end of a U.S. tour with two dates remaining: the Lincoln Theatre in Washington, D.C., on Nov. 29 and the Union Transfer in Philadelphia on Nov. 30.
