One man is dead after a shooting incident that occurred in Hamilton late Friday night.

Hamilton Police Chief Ryan Oster provided the following details to KGVO News.

“Around 10:20 p.m. Friday night, officers were dispatched to the 600 block of North Sixth Street in Hamilton in regards to a male who had suffered a gunshot wound,” said Chief Oster. “When they got there they located a male who was deceased as a result of a gunshot.”

Chief Oster provided more details about the shooting.

“They determined that there had been several individuals in the residents who were all acquainted with each other,” he said. “Through the course of the preliminary investigation, it appears that a couple of the individuals had a disagreement and the one male individual ended up being shot. Of course the name of the victim hasn't been released at this point.”

Chief Oster made a point to mention that no one was in custody as of Saturday evening.

“There is not been anyone taken in custody as of this time. I would just point out that there's no indication right now that there's any sort of a threat to the general public,” he said.

Chief Oster said Hamilton Police are still conducting an investigation into the shooting, and the victim’s name has not yet been released.
