Montana is known as the Last Best Place, and if you've spent much time in the state, it's easy to understand why that nickname makes sense.

Certain places in Big Sky Country get more attention than others. It seems like Bozeman, Missoula, and Whitefish get all the love, but there are several towns across the state that are worth visiting.

A new report from World Atlas was just released, and it's all about the prettiest towns in Montana. It's not about highlighting the places we all know and love. Instead, it sheds a little light on the lesser-known towns in Montana that are often overlooked.

The list includes beautiful mountain towns with charming Main Streets that are full of history.

At the top of the list is Ennis, which is a great town to visit if you enjoy fly fishing. The town is nestled along the Madison River and serves as a basecamp for those seeking adventure in Southwest Montana. There's even a new TV show called "Madison" which stars Kurt Russell and Michele Pfeiffer.

Fort Benton, a charming town in central Montana, was also included on the list of the prettiest towns in the state.

Founded in 1846 on the Missouri River, it has been called the world's innermost port and the birthplace of Montana as the oldest continuously occupied settlement in the state. Its historic attractions, stories, and views of the Missouri River have given it a noteworthy spot on many lists of the best Montana towns.

Bozeman wasn't named, but Gallatin County was completely overlooked. Big Sky and West Yellowstone made the cut. Just east of Bozeman, Livingston was also mentioned.

If you happen to find yourself near Flathead Lake, Big Arm is considered one of the prettiest towns in the Flathead Valley. The area is perfect for swimming, fishing, and camping during the summer. Head a bit further north, and you'll get to Whitefish, which is also among the prettiest towns in the state.

With summer coming up, many places in Montana will soon become overcrowded with visitors, but here's a pro tip. Take time to explore the small towns that make the state truly great, and you'll most likely be pleasantly surprised.
